Therapy ~ EMDR ~ Consulting
Q: What is EMDR?
A: EMDR is an acronym for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a tool that some therapists use in conjunction with traditional psycotherapy. EMDR is an integrative approach that has been used to relieve symptoms of post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, anger, and has also been used with individuals suffering from phobias, panic disorders, pain control and addictions.
The overly-simple example I use is this: If you think about how your brain processes information during the night when you're sleeping, and how dreams result in REM (rapid eye movement), then leap a little bit further and use that same concept to how your brain could process burried information while you're awake.
